Microsoft is afraid of Google. My my, how the tables have turned
Not so many years ago, there was a king. One company so huge they had total office management domination. Their server and desktop software powered almost every computer in the workplace in the world. I am talking of course about Microsoft and their ecosystem of Windows, Office, Exchange, and more. Now, there were still holdouts, running Apple’s products, and of course the all-important Linux userbase, but the world was mainly powered by Microsoft.
Then came a small company with a large search engine, and a revolutionary new email concept that would be so outrageous everyone would think it was a joke on launch day. Of course that could have something to do with the fact that they launched it on April Fool's day…

Our first guest of Season 2 is Tanya Janca, the author of her new book Alice and Bob Learn Application Security.
PANDEMIC IT IS EXHAUSTING
I want to share something. This has been percolating in my mind for quite some time and I guess I was not ready to put it into words just yet. It’s the same feeling so many of us are feeling. WHAT THE HELL COMES NEXT? Well, that’s an impossible question and that’s why it is burdening so many of us today. There is no playbook here. There is no plan. There is only tomorrow and next week. Maybe next month. Will we be back in lockdown or will we be back at work and our kids back at school? Will the economy collapse or will it boom? Trying to manage day to day operations for this is exhausting just thinking about it, never mind living through it. So many of us, those who are lucky enough to have jobs today, have been working at extreme warp for several months now and it’s showing. The cracks in the hull are widening to continue the Star Trek analogy, and something has to change. We need to drop out of warp for a few days and recharge. Make repairs. Take a look around. Only then can we go back on course re-energized for what comes next.
Of course Google is hoping this model will see much broader consumer adoption, obviously they want to sell this thing, and in marketing, it must have pushed the word “affordable” in the talking points given that they literally said it in the presentation, and in their blog posts, and everyone is mentioning it. It’s on the higher end of consumer affordable laptops though, so here is the business side of things, and why we should be paying attention.
PIXELBOOK GO: A CHROMEBOOK FOR THE REST OF US
As you may know, Google announced the newest member of the Pixelbook family yesterday, the Pixelbook Go. The tech media is having a field day over this wonky playful design, lack of pen support, and the fact that it’s an affordable, budget, Chromebook for the masses!
HOW TO REMOVE RESIDUE FROM LAPTOP STICKERS
Here at tabGeeks, we LOVE laptop stickers. We decorate our laptops, our office doors and even give them away at conferences. But sometimes our laptops outlive a particularly trendy sticker. So for a slightly off-beat post today, I’m going to tell you how to get that yucky residue off your laptop once an old sticker starts falling off or you remove it because you don’t want it anymore.
What you’ll need: Nail-polish remover & cotton (rounds, balls, pads, whatever you can get your hands on). FYI: Paper towels will work in a pinch, but they do make this process significantly more difficult as they are designed to absorb, and cotton is better at controlled dispersal.
IT SUPPORT ON THE CITY LEVEL
There are 4 million people in the City of Angels, home to the largest port in the western hemisphere, the first city to fully roll out 5G, and sitting on a massive fault line waiting to be all shook up at any moment. This week's guest Jeanne Holm is no stranger to big data, managing IT and teams doing social good around the world. We talk about her path into IT, what it's like managing IT on a massive city scale, and her work helping improve the lives of LA residents through technology.
FEAR OF FAILURE
People often forget that people skills are a huge part of our jobs in IT Support. One of the major ongoing themes of this podcast is soft skills, or as we prefer to call them, critical skills. This week's guest is a former teacher and current Cloud Training Specialist Olivia Liddell tackling a difficult constant in many of our lives: The Fear of Failure.
